Griffey, also known as “The Kid” or “Junior,” was a Hall of Fame MLB Outfielder for the Seattle Mariners (1989-1999, 2009-2010), Cincinnati Reds (2000-2008) and Chicago White Sox (2008), winning the AL MVP in 1997. He was the Number One overall draft pick in 1987, making his MLB debut at age 19 in April 1989, ultimately playing MLB in 4 decades. During the 90s, Griffey was one of the players of the decade, finishing 7th all-time in Home Runs,

Griffey finished his career with 2,781 hits, 630 home runs, and 1,836 RBI. He is one of only eight players in major league history to record over 300 home runs and 300 stolen bases in his career (300-300 club). In 1990, Griffey and his father, Ken Griffey Sr., became the first father and son to play on the same team at the same time. In his father’s first game as a Mariner, on August 31, 1990, the pair hit back-to-back singles in the first inning and both scored.

Notably, Griffey ranks #2 for total career hits by a player born on November 21st in Donora, Pennsylvania, behind HOFer Stan Musial.
